Notice Regarding Renewal Requirements
Beginning July 1, 2024, all certified individuals are required to include nine (9) hours of ethics continuing education with their renewal. A minimum of three (3) of these hours must be on the subjects of diversity, inclusion, culture, equity, or LGBTQIA2+.
Registration and Certification
CCAPP credentials are approved by the California State Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) and accredited by NCCA. The following credentials are approved for employment in a California licensed or certified facility:

Registered Alcohol/Drug Technician - RADT
Your Career Starts HereStart Here – This is the beginning of your career to become a Certified SUD counselor. Registration is the first step to gaining the required experience toward certification.

Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor I – CADC-I
CERTIFICATION BEGINS HEREReady to get certified? This is the first level of SUD certification. Candidates can skip to a higher level if qualified.
Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor II – CADC-II
CERTIFICATION CONTINUES HEREReady to get certified or advance up? This is the second level of SUD certification. Candidates can skip to a higher level if qualified.
Certified Alcohol Drug Counselor III – CADC-III
