Renewal Requirements
Renewal Application
Complete all steps in our online electronic application system, called Certemy (cert-eh-mee).
CCAPP Code of Conduct
Sign the CCAPP Code of Conduct for Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselors. This is part of the application process in Certemy.
State Code of Conduct
Signed DHCS Code of Conduct for Credentialed Alcohol and Drug Professionals. This is part of the application process in Certemy.
Fees
Members: $100 | Non-members: $400
This fee is non-refundable.
Late Renewals
*If your CADC-CAS status has been expired for more than 30 days, you must complete all the initial renewal requirements. You will also need to pay the renewal fee and a $70 late fee, making a total of $170. If you are not a member, the total will be $470.
Continuing Education
Completion of 50 hours of CEUs including nine hours of ethics. A minimum of three (3) of these ethics hours must be on the subjects of diversity, inclusion, culture, equity, or LGBTQIA2+
Scope of Practice
Agree to and sign the scope of practice. Read it carefully! This is part of the application process in Certemy.
Membership
CCAPP credentials do not include membership. You do not have to be a member, but if you are one, your membership must be current and valid for 2 years in a row before you can renew. If your membership isn’t current, you will have to pay the non-member price when it’s time to renew. See info on membership here.

Important Renewal Information
Renewal of Certification hours - Clarification
Continuing Education: Alcohol/Drug Counseling CCAPP (provider numbers are required)

- CCAPP will accept a maximum of eight (8) CEUs per day for education completed.
- Workshops/Seminars: Basic counseling skills courses, even at the master’s level, cannot be used for renewal. The workshops must be led by approved providers with a current CCAPP provider number. It’s the applicant’s job to check that the workshop has an approved provider number. All documents must have the provider number and focus on advanced alcohol and drug skills.
- Design/Implementation/Presentation of Alcohol/Drug Counseling Topics: This must also have a CCAPP provider number. To prove this, send a letter from the administrator, supervisor, or coordinator that includes the start date, type of activity, hours involved, an outline of activities, and samples of brochures or handouts.
- Initial Oral Training by Approved ICRC/AODA Supervisors: You must provide a copy of your certificate as proof.
- Trainers: They get 1 hour of preparation time for each hour of training they give and 1 hour for each hour they present.

Application Processing Times
Application processing can take up to 30 days. You must complete and submit all steps in the application correctly. An application is complete when every step has a green bubble. A green bubble with a white checkmark means that CCAPP staff have checked and approved that step.
If a step is rejected, it will show a red bubble, and you need to fix it. The processing time will be delayed and will not continue until you correct the rejected step and resubmit all the steps that were rejected.

Transfer Requirements

Current Credential
Upload an electronic copy of your current credential with the organization you wish to transfer from.
CCAPP Code of Conduct
Sign the CCAPP Code of Conduct for Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselors. This is part of the application process in Certemy.
State Code of Conduct
Signed DHCS Code of Conduct for Credentialed Alcohol and Drug Professionals. This is part of the application process in Certemy.
Experience
You need to show proof of the following: 160 hours of training that was directly supervised, 2,080 hours of supervised work experience, and 155 hours of formal classroom education in SUD studies according to TAP 21.
Completed Transfer Application

Scope of Practice

Fees
The transfer application fee is $45.
This fee is non-refundable.
IMPORTANT
Transferring from one certifying organization to another does not extend your expiration date.

Important Transfer Information
*Upon approval, your expiration date will be the same as it currently is with the certifying organization you are transferring from. If you are expired, you will transfer as expired and will need to complete a renewal application.
Six to Eight Weeks Application Processing Times
